If I cannot repair, I will replace it. If it arrives broken in the mail, please send me a photo of the broken piece and I will refund you or provide you with a new piece, free of charge. I will ALWAYS provide repairs as long as I have my hands and tools to fix it! If it has visibly been mishandled, maltreated and the advice has not been taken about proper care , I cannot exchange the piece or provide a refund. But you get that, right? Dawn, founder and maker of Flourish and Flame Jewelry, discusses her journey to becoming an online jewelry shop owner in Ottawa, Ontario. Here's the thing... Big changes, like becoming a mom, can feel a little overwhelming. And on top of that, motherhood was not at all how I had imagined. We have a neuro-divergent family and my mom-experience just didn’t fit in with other moms. I was throwing every ounce of me into being a mom and with that, I tucked away my “dangerous, child-unfriendly” (read: fun) jewelry. Our time and family money went into psychologist appointments, therapy appointments and learning how to gain any amount of calm in our lives. And when you’re this busy and chaotic, you don’t have time or energy for anything that’s a nuisance, especially jewelry. I would never go back and I also don’t want to lose myself in this new chapter. When I would take 5 seconds in the morning to throw on a pair of earrings, it made me feel put-together. Confident that whether or not we got there on time, I’d be able to handle it. Just a glance of my reflection in the freezer door at the grocery store would make me feel a touch of confidence. It was a moment for me. The demands on my life had changed, along with what I needed from my jewelry. It had to be comfortable, easy to wear and fit in our budget. I was ready to find jewelry that was fun and fit my new life. But I was struggling to find the kind of pieces that I wanted to wear, that would also hold up to my life. So I decided to make my own. It became something I did for me, to feel productive and creative. Jewelry making was time I poured into myself, just like wearing the jewelry gave me confidence as I juggled motherhood. And that’s exactly how I design and handcraft my jewelry - pieces that can be worn beautifully, without a second thought and won’t break the bank.
